Radar is a minimap replacement addon that puts the minimap in the center of the screen, takes the (useful) buttons from it and puts them in a little dock area at the top middle of the screen (shown on mouseover), hides everything else except for the minimap blips (arrows, quest markers, and so on), and makes the minimap click-through.
You will want to enable the "Rotate Minimap" option (Interface options -> Display) for this to look right.
Note that if an addon adds a minimap button you'll have to reload your UI (/reload) to make the addon move it up to the dock, and that the dock has one blank space each for the new mail button and the queue status button when they're inactive. I was originally going to wait with publishing this addon until I had fixed those things, but someone asked for an addon like this and this is better than nothing.
